Hey team, Michael here.
As someone who loves the original Star Wars movies, I couldn't help but think about this Yoda quote from The Empire Strikes Back today on May the 4th — Star Wars Day:
"Always with you what cannot be done. Hear you nothing that I say?...You must unlearn what you have learned....Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try."
We know what we have to do. On January 6th, 2021, our country faced one of its darkest days. Defending and strengthening our democracy against the dark forces of tyranny is the urgent work of our lifetimes. And the lesson of Star Wars is that freedom is always worth the fight — even if the odds can sometimes feel like 3,720 to 1.
As Republican politicians across the country work hard to roll back the voting rights of millions of Americans, especially people of color, we have to stand for democracy. As they roll back reproductive rights for millions of women, we have to stand for freedom.
And we have to remember what Yoda said — there is no try. We need to leave our children and grandchildren a stronger democracy than we inherited. We need to build an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top. I will never stop fighting to leave our democracy and economy stronger for generations to come.
Join us in this movement today, on Star Wars Day, and chip in whatever you can so we can continue our important work.
May the force be with you, always,
Michael
