How to celebrate Nebraska Bird Month

Nebraska is home to over 400 amazing bird species, and it's time to celebrate them. May is Nebraska Bird Month, a celebration of birds, bird-watching and bird migration held throughout the entire month.

You can help celebrate by attending one of the many bird-related events happening statewide.?From Breakfast and Birds on Mother?s Day or a birding by ear hike to Birds and Brews or Fashion a Feeder, there is probably a Nebraska Bird Month event at a location near you.

Additional rainbow trout?to be stocked

Additional rainbow trout have been produced this spring by Nebraska fish hatcheries and will be stocked at select water bodies in the next two weeks.

These trout will be larger than 10 inches and ready to catch as soon as they are stocked.

Norris? Hennecke wins Cornhusker Cup

Zach Hennecke lost one shoot-off Saturday in the 53rd Cornhusker Trap Shoot, but he made the next one ? the one that really counted.

The Norris sophomore fought off Tanner Parrish of Lincoln Southeast in a shoot-off for the Cornhusker Cup, the shoot?s overall championship.

Surveys indicate mixed bag on fish winterkill

Surveys by Nebraska Game and Parks show many Sandhills lakes fared better than expected after a harsh winter led to fish kills.?As surveys are completed, Game and Parks is developing a stocking plan to replenish the fish populations where needed.
