Hi,
I’ve always believed that when elected officials ask for support, it can’t ever be a one-way relationship. It’s my responsibility to demonstrate to you what your support is going toward — and how I’m making the most of this opportunity to serve Colorado in Congress. So I wanted to share some updates about my work:
If you follow the news, it won’t surprise you when I say that a big part of my job is fighting back against GOP extremism — working to defeat attacks on the right to choose, rejecting further attacks on our democracy, and standing strong in defense of programs like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and veterans’ benefits that millions of Americans depend on every day.
I’ve even had to fight to stop a disastrous proposal to hit every single American with a national 35% sales tax!
But simply saying no to bad policies is not an agenda. Even with Democrats in the minority, I’m going to work as hard as I can to deliver positive change for the American people. And I’m proud to have hit the ground running in my first few months on the job:
I’ve introduced legislation to stop the import of fentanyl and other illicit synthetic drugs.
I’m working for Postal Service reforms to stop the mail delays and delivery errors harming families in our district — and I launched a bipartisan caucus to address this issue.
My bipartisan bill to improve technology and equipment for first responders navigating emergency situations passed the House.
I’m fighting for $35 million in federal funding for local projects to improve access to clean water, expand affordable housing, and improve quality of life in our community.
I’m continuing to work for a solution toward our debt ceiling crisis.
And just last week, I was appointed the Vice Ranking Member of the Financial Services Subcommittee on National Security and Illicit Finance, which covers all legislative issues related to international finance, including combating threats other countries and terrorist organizations pose to our nation’s economy and national security.
In short, Team, it’s been a whirlwind few months, and we aren’t stopping. There is so much work to do to support our community and make life better for the regular families whose needs so often go overlooked in Washington. And I’m incredibly proud to have your support as we take on these fights together.
Thanks for everything you do. More to come.
