May 2023
Dear Friend,
If you haven't heard the news, I'm excited to share that Ruth’s List Florida’s Annual “She’s the Change” Conference is back in 2023! The two-day conference will be held September 8-9, 2023 at the Hilton Hotel in Orlando, Florida.
This legislative session we've seen the Republican supermajority on a fast track to destruction, stripping Floridians of our rights and freedoms, including the passage of a near-total abortion ban. It's incredible to see how much damage they can do in just 60 days. And even after the session ends, we know the Florida GOP will be more emboldened than ever. Ruth's List is not backing down, and that's why we've chosen the theme, "Nevertheless, she persisted" for this year's annual conference.
There's nothing more energizing than being in a room with Florida's current and future Democratic women leaders. Last year's conference was such a highlight in the midst of a tough election season, and we're looking forward to getting together with all of you again.
Stay tuned for information coming soon about how to register, reserve a hotel room, and more. And if you're interested in becoming a sponsor, please reach out to our Development Director, Deb Spector at [email protected].

ELECTIONS
We have two important elections coming up on Tuesday, May 16th. Ruth's List endorsed candidates Donna Deegan and Joyce Morgan are facing runoff elections and we need your help to ensure their victories. There's still time to donate to their campaigns to make sure they have the resources needed to win. And check their websites for volunteer opportunities in the closing days of the campaigns.
Donna Deegan, Mayor of Jacksonville [[link removed]]
Donna Deegan would not only be the first woman to lead Jacksonville, her victory would flip this seat blue. It would also mean three of Florida’s largest metro-areas would have Ruth’s List-endorsed, Democratic pro-choice women serving as mayors. This will be one of the highest profile races of 2023 and we are pulling out all the stops to see that Donna wins the runoff. Donate here [[link removed]] to help her finish strong!
[[link removed]] Joyce Morgan, Duvall County Property Appraiser
Joyce Morgan is running in the May 16th runoff for Duval County Property Appraiser. If elected, she would be the first African American and first woman ever to serve in this position. We’re honored to once again endorse Joyce and see her run for countywide office. Donate here [[link removed]] to help ensure she has the resources to win!
ENDORSEMENTS
Daniella Levine Cava, Mayor of Miami-Dade County [[link removed]]
We're excited to announce our endorsement of Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava in her reelection campaign. Daniella is a lifelong public servant with over 40 years of experience serving the South Florida community and made history in 2020 when she became Miami-Dade’s first ever woman mayor and first Jewish mayor. Your early support will help ensure she continues to represent the people of Miami-Dade. Make a donation to her campaign here. [[link removed]] [[link removed]]
