Play Frontier leverages Commerce grants, community partnerships to fulfill rural child care needs
"Play Frontier is the only licensed child care center in Skamania County, and was among the first facilities to receive a Child Care Partnership Grant from Commerce to assess community need and gaps in care."

According to a 2021 Washington Child Care Collaborative Task Force report, an estimated 63% of Washington children live in areas with inadequate child care, including rural Skamania County.

Tiffany Pearsall, Play Frontier's founder and executive director, has utilized community partnerships, Commerce grants and creativity to identify needs and expand care to more children.
In addition to receiving a?Child Care Partnership Grant from Commerce when the program was piloted in 2020, the center was awarded a $1 million Early Learning Facilities (ELF) grant last spring.
The ELF funding and community partnerships means Play Frontier is relocating to a larger, kid-friendly facility in summer 2023.
It means more kids have access to care in the underserved community.
