** Today, the World Justice Project celebrates 14 years of promoting the rule of law around the world.
------------------------------------------------------------
After a successful pilot project in 2008, the WJP unveiled its flagship Rule of Law Index ([link removed]) in 2009, covering 35 countries. The Index is now the world’s leading source of original, independent rule of law data, covering 140 countries and jurisdictions and representing 95% of the world’s population. This year, two more countries—Kuwait and Montenegro—will be added.
As our co-founder and CEO William H. Neukom has long said, “If you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it.” Today, our data is used by governments to create national plans, business leaders to evaluate risk and inform investment decisions, academics to advance critical research, and civil society leaders to advocate for change. Beyond the annual Index, our legal needs surveys and in-depth country and thematic reports inform policy on the local, national, and international level. Most recently, our groundbreaking people-centered justice research was
highlighted in the new USAID rule of law policy ([link removed]) .

We also convene and support the global rule of law movement through networks and events including our World Justice Forum ([link removed]) . And our World Justice Challenge ([link removed]) competition identifies, promotes, and supports the work of the most effective rule of law innovators globally.
