Have you heard of a House discharge petition?
Like the Senate filibuster, it sounds wonky. But it’s a way for Democrats
to implement the will of the people, including raising the debt ceiling
without cuts to vital programs.
If 218 House members sign on, the House MUST hold a vote on critical
legislation -- bypassing Kevin McCarthy and Marjorie Taylor Greene.
GOOD NEWS: The New York Times reports, "Democrats on Tuesday began taking
steps to deploy a secret weapon they have been holding in reserve. They
started the process of trying to force a debt-limit increase bill to the
floor through a so-called discharge petition."

cold feet. Sign on here to tell Dems in Congress you support using the
discharge petition to force a clean increase in the debt ceiling.
P Street, the PCCC's government affairs arm, are working closely with
House leaders right now to ensure our leaders continue to stand strong on
a clean debt ceiling bill and protect critical programs like Social
Security and Medicare. They'll keep them up to date on public support.

Three Democratic leaders joined forces earlier this year to raise the
pressure on McCarthy by showing ALL Dems unified in support of a clean
debt ceiling bill: Pramila Jayapal -- Chair of the Progressive Caucus,
Annie Kuster -- Chair of the New Dems, and Brendan Boyle -- the top
Democrat on the Budget Committee. They deserve our support and
appreciation along with Hakeem Jeffries -- the House Democratic leader.
We’ve been rallying public pressure on the White House and Democratic
leaders for months to insist on a clean debt ceiling increase with no cuts
to Social Security, Medicare, or other programs American families depend
on.
