Affordable medicine now
Dear John,

When I was 22-years old, I received a $3,000 quote for a 30-day supply of my SSRI prescription that had historically cost $25. I was diagnosed with anxiety at fourteen, and the SSRI saved my life. I became myself again when I finally got on the medication, but the ten years I was on the prescription, I struggled to afford it until I found a pharmacy in Canada that would mail me a three-months supply for $300.

My story is not unique. Just like I’ve experienced being at the whim of corporate greed to afford my medication, we are talking to hundreds of people every week who have struggled with high cost prescriptions, unaffordable medical care, or not having the freedom to take a day off to care of themselves or loved ones. Last night at our Emergency Town Hall, we heard stories of the impossible choices Minnesotans make every day, and the cost when there aren’t public policies to back us up. [[link removed]]

That is why I’m writing today to invite you to give towards organizing efforts to pass a Prescription Drug Affordability Board, Earned Sick/Safe Time and other people-centered policies. [[link removed]]

Minnesotans should not have to choose between their health and paying rent. Corporations are spending big against us, because the status quo is profitable for them. But we know that this year, we can win.

💊 We can win a Prescription Drug Affordability Board (PDAB) that would create a publicly appointed board to oversee the cost of medicine and ensure prices are fair and affordable.
💝 We can win Earned Sick and Safe Time and Paid Family Medical Leave so that all of us have freedom to care for ourselves and our loved ones.

Already, bills are moving in the House and the Senate. TakeAction is organizing to make sure the strongest bills are sent to the Governor for signature. Give now to support organizing efforts so these bills get across the finish line. [[link removed]]

Minnesotans deserve access to the medicine and time they need to live full lives with dignity. Donate $12, $54 or $103 towards guaranteeing affordable medicine and care for all Minnesotans. [[link removed]]

I believe in our collective power. With your support, we can beat Big PhRMA and other greedy corporations. We will be one step closer towards a Minnesota that works for our families and communities. Let’s do this.

Onward,
