JOhn, a lot happened in April.
We saw House Republicans push through legislation targeting trans youth, rolling back environmental protections, and cutting critical assistance to working families.
Your support helped me sustain the resources to fight back and tell the people of VA-10 what's at stake. As the spring turns into summer, it's going to be critical that we keep countering GOP extremism at every possible turn.
My month was also defined by our work on two important issues: protecting communities from sexual assault and supporting survivors, and promoting awareness of Parkinson's disease so that the nearly 90,000 Americans impacted by it can find resources and care (April is both Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Parkinson's Awareness Month).
Since coming to Congress, I've worked extensively to raise awareness of teen dating violence — a major source of sexual assault among young people. Last month, I continued using my platform to help teens in need know that they can find hope and connect them with support channels.
I also made the decision last month to announce my own diagnosis with Parkinson's. I did so to help raise awareness of the disease, and to show that it does not have to stop us from living the lives we want to live. I plan to keep serving my constituents for many years to come — and I'll keep working to give visibility to the issues that affect so many of us.
Months like this put a lot into perspective, and they make me appreciate even more that the work I do wouldn't be possible without supporters like you. So I want to emphasize again just how grateful I am to have you on the team.
