That’s two chapters in the history books DONE, John.
The first (and bigger) chapter is the end of my first legislative session as governor. We’ve been sharing these victories for the past few weeks, but I really can’t get enough of celebrating all we did.
We passed legislation to:
💵 Raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour in 2024
🍃 Make Maryland a leader in clean energy by becoming the offshore wind capitol of the country
🎓 Give every high school graduate in Maryland the opportunity for a paid year of service to our state while gaining real-world skills, perspective, and experience
🏥 Ensure transgender Marylanders get the care they need by requiring Maryland Medicaid to provide coverage for additional gender-affirming treatments
👧 Reduce child poverty in our state through the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit, which greatly benefit working families
📜 Enshrine reproductive freedom into our state constitution – Marylanders will get to vote on this in 2024!
There’s plenty more, but my team said a 5,000-word email would end up in your spam folder.
The second chapter we closed is our first deadline since the fundraising freeze lifted. And I’m happy to share that we hit our goal – which helps us stay on track and ensures Aruna and I have what we need to keep moving Maryland forward.
Whether you raised your voice during the legislative session or donated to help hit our goal (or both!), I want to thank you for showing up and being a part of this movement.
Elevate,
Wes
