John,
Since the Supreme Court's decision to eliminate the constitutional right to abortion, numerous states have implemented restrictive abortion policies, creating significant barriers for those seeking access to safe and legal abortion care.
Already, 12 states have near-total abortion bans in place, and access to medication abortion is restricted in 15 states.
These barriers disproportionately affect marginalized communities, including low-income individuals, people of color, and LGBTQ+ individuals, further exacerbating existing health inequities.
We must counteract the wave of state-level abortion restrictions that have been sweeping the nation and making it increasingly difficult for women to access reproductive healthcare services and that’s exactly what the Women's Health Protection Act does.
By establishing a statutory right to access abortion care, we can ensure that every individual has access to this essential healthcare service, regardless of where they live or their economic circumstances, and safeguard the right to safe and legal abortion services across the country.
The passage of the Women's Health Protection Act is a vital step in ensuring that the rights and well-being of millions are protected. Call on Congress to use every possible tool at their disposal to guarantee reproductive freedom for all.
There’s no doubt that restrictions on abortion access cause harm to women's health and well-being, undermine autonomy, and disproportionately affect marginalized communities.
Restrictions lead to unsafe, self-induced abortions and force women to carry unwanted pregnancies to term, with significant emotional and financial impacts. In fact, people who are forced to carry unwanted pregnancies to term are more likely to live in poverty, and they are less likely to be able to finish their education or get a good job.
This only worsens existing health disparities because it disproportionately harms low-income women and women of color who may face additional barriers to accessing healthcare services.
The bottom line is that we must not allow the rights and bodily autonomy of millions to be further eroded. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that every individual has the ability to make decisions about their own body and future.
At this crucial moment, with more states looking to pass abortion bans we need you to push Congress to pass the Women's Health Protection Act now!
Let’s continue fighting to protect reproductive rights and ensure nationwide access to abortion care.
