Evergreen wouldn't be here today if it weren't for Washington Governor Jay Inslee—or as he's known to the many of us who have worked for him, just "the Gov." On Monday, he announced he will not seek a fourth term as governor—and will leave office at the end of next year as one of the most impactful governors on climate in American history.

But if you know Jay Inslee, you know he’s not done pushing our nation and our world to defeat the climate crisis and build a more just, thriving economy run on clean energy.

The Gov's historic presidential campaign put climate at the top of the political agenda. He set a new bar for climate policy and created an open-source, gold standard climate plan based on standards, investment, and justice. You can find the fingerprints of that work and the governor's visionary leadership throughout the Inflation Reduction Act, embedded in new climate policies at all levels of government, and in our ongoing work here at Evergreen.

We'll always be grateful to Governor Inslee for his climate leadership in Washington state and beyond, and for his role in helping us bring Evergreen to life. We're honored to continue what he helped us start.
