John, we've successfully saved endangered species before, and we can do it again for the bats.

John,

Protecting vulnerable species from the worst climate change threats means more than just focusing on the polar bears and blue whales. It’s also about the animals that may not get the same limelight.

That’s why today, we want to talk to you about bats. Because according to a recent North American Bat Conservation Alliance report, more than half of all bat species in North America are at risk of extinction.

Here’s what’s going on: While human development and diseases like white noise syndrome are playing a part, it’s climate change that’s truly to blame. The report’s findings show that 82% of all bat species in North America will be affected by climate change — and put 52% at risk of major population declines.

Bats are a crucial part of our ecosystem, playing a vital role in pollination and pest control. They protect our forests and farms from being overrun with infestations, and they even help mitigate mosquito-borne pathogens. Losing them would cause unquantifiable damage to our world as we know it.

John, it is our responsibility to take immediate action to reverse this trend and protect all wildlife threatened by a changing climate. By acting now, we can save other endangered species that may be at risk if we do not take action.

We've successfully saved endangered species before, and we can do it again for the bats. Without the Endangered Species Act, we would have lost the American bald eagle, the California condor, and the gray wolf.

Our SEEC members of Congress are dedicated to fighting against the dangers of climate change and other activities that threaten the survival of vulnerable species.

But we cannot let up, John. Can you donate to our SEEC members as they continue to fight for the protection of endangered species from the destructive effects of human-caused environmental change?
