John, I refuse to accept that we must live in a country where students find themselves afraid for their lives in their classrooms.
I refuse to accept that there's no option other than having our communities be torn apart again and again by deadly shootings.
I refuse to accept that families have to bury loved ones — children, parents, and grandparents — far too soon because of senseless gun violence.
As New York's attorney general, it's my job to defend the voiceless and vulnerable against even the most powerful forces in our nation — and that includes the gun lobby. From the very first day I took office, I've fought tooth and nail to bring the gun lobby, gun manufacturers, and gun sellers to justice.
But I haven't taken on this fight alone. For decades, Brady has led the charge for gun violence reform. They work tirelessly across court systems, within communities, and on Capitol Hill to prevent gun violence and save lives. But the fight for a future free of gun violence is far from over.
That's why I'm emailing you today to personally ask you to join Brady and me in putting an end to the gun violence epidemic by making a grassroots donation. Please, if you believe we can win a safer future, will you donate now to fuel Brady's important work to rid our communities of gun violence?
It's no secret why Congress has failed to pass an assault weapons ban or comprehensive gun violence reform. The ultra-wealthy gun lobby has politicians wrapped around their finger.
With far too many leaders in Washington bought and paid for, it's up to us to fight back and demand change. But going toe-to-toe with the gun lobby and gun manufacturers takes serious grassroots resources.
That's why I promised I'd help Brady raise $10,000 by midnight tonight, but right now, we're still short of our goal. So please, John, will you invest in our fight for safer communities by making a grassroots donation? Every donation will help Brady finally defeat the gun lobby and save lives.

Thank you for your partnership in this vital work.
With gratitude,
Letitia James
NY Attorney General
