Kevin McCarthy's proposed "debt limit plan" would drive our country off a cliff, Johh.

The truth is that the GOP is holding the American economy hostage in hopes of passing a bill that experts say will devastate the nation. It's nothing but a dirty tactic to get extreme spending cuts through — so extreme that even their own members are pushing back.

The American people should be outraged by what Republicans are doing right now. Take a look at just some of the repercussions McCarthy's plan would have for Coloradans:

🚩Put 290,000 Coloradans at risk of losing their Medicaid coverage.

🚩Increase housing costs for at least 8,100 people in Colorado.

🚩Eliminate preschool and child care for at least 3,500 children in Colorado.

🚩 Make college more expensive for 117,400 students in Colorado.

And that's just in our state, nationwide it will result in the loss of over 780,000 jobs. If the GOP is really concerned about decreasing the deficit, let’s start by making sure the ultra-wealthy and major corporations are paying their fair share, instead of taking food, housing and health care away from millions of hardworking families.

The bottom line is that this plan is bad for America. I refused to support it in the House and I hope you will join me in calling on Senate leadership to protect working families and the necessary programs the GOP are trying to cut. Sign this petition before midnight tonight >> [link removed]
