Friends,

If you’re not frustrated by last week’s GOP-engineered debt ceiling spectacle, you should be.

The House GOP passed a bill put together in the dead of night designed to pressure the President to negotiate on spending and the debt ceiling. The consequences of playing these types of partisan games can be dire.

During the Trump administration, Democrats and Republicans raised the debt ceiling three times with no gamesmanship in sight. But now, there’s a Democratic President, so the GOP would rather up-end the table and ransom the U.S. and global economies to get their way.

That’s not just wrong, it’s reckless.

Democrats have proposed plans to lower costs and cut taxes for working families, protect and strengthen Social Security and Medicare, and invest in America.

The GOP responded by doubling down on their threat to send the global economy into a tailspin, leave our children poorer and families hungrier, make our veterans sicker, and make housing more expensive.

The bottom line is, Democrats don’t legislate for show. We legislate to get things done, and we’re focused on making progress and a positive impact on working families nationwide.

Governing is about more than just winning political points, it’s our responsibility to act in the best interests of every American without risking their future or well-being.
