Dear John,
By now you have likely seen the news from Sudan. A devastating civil war is causing widespread suffering. We are hearing from our partners on the ground about the many challenges they’re facing. One just told us, “I have been holed in the house with my family managing with the little that we had before the conflict. We cannot sleep or go out to seek medical care as it is too dangerous.”
With these conditions, it is no wonder many are fleeing for relative safety in nearby countries.
AFSC has been working on peacebuilding and humane migration in the region, and now we are standing with our partners to assist during this new crisis. We are working with partners to mount an emergency humanitarian response to help refugee families arriving in Ethiopia and South Sudan. And we are collectively advocating for peace and safety for all in Sudan and the region.
Donations are urgently needed. Can you help?
We are raising funds to help families meet their immediate needs, including:
- Food items such as rice, corn flour, beans, palm oil, and salt.
- Kitchen kits with plates, bowls, utensils, pots, and other basics.
- Bed sheets and blankets.
- Clothing for children and adults.
- Immigration and travel expenses.
- Medicines and hygiene supplies such as soap, mosquito nets, and period products.
Please make a generous gift today to help families displaced by the war and support our work for peace.
Our team in Africa is also joining with trusted partners on the ground and connections worldwide to create a strong voice for peace. Your gift will support bold advocacy to help stop the violence and address the needs of those who have been displaced.
Thank you for supporting our efforts.
In peace,
