Friend,
To start, I want to say thank you.
With your help, we met our April fundraising goal, and I’m so grateful for your ongoing support. Now that there’s a new opponent in the race, it’s becoming increasingly important to meet our fundraising marks, and you continue to prove that our grassroots energy is alive and well.
On a more somber note, I wanted to express my sincerest condolences to those impacted by the accidents on Interstate 55 in Illinois this week. If you missed it: a massive dust storm caused more than 70 vehicles to crash in a two-mile stretch of the highway near Springfield. Tragically, six people lost their lives.
Incidents like this not only remind us how weather events can have sudden and horrific consequences; they show how important it is to communicate clearly and promptly about potential weather threats that pose a risk to Illinoisans.
As a meteorologist, I understand the value of clear communication about weather and climate. It can literally save lives. That’s why it’s crucial that we heed warnings from the National Weather Service and other credible groups, especially when it comes to hard-to-predict weather events like tornadoes or dust storms.
My thoughts are with the families of those affected by these accidents, and my team is ready to assist however possible.
Thanks for reading, friend – that’s all for now, but stay tuned for more from our team soon.
Take care,
Eric
