Friend, my GOP incumbent opponent John Katko can say all he wants that our country is in a “better place today than it was 4 years ago” because of Donald Trump, but we know the truth.
John Katko is doing all he can to appease the Trump-supporting far-right special interests and big corporate PACs backing his campaign. We’re fueling our campaign the right way, with grassroots support and not a cent of corporate PAC money. We can flip this swing seat in November, replace John Katko, and return this seat -- and our government -- to the hands of the people where they belong, but right now we need 128 grassroots donors to step up this week to stay on track. Now that we’re done with the State of the Union, let’s be clear about what “better” looks like to Donald Trump and John Katko:
Donald Trump has repeatedly undermined our healthcare. He backed a lawsuit to eliminate the Affordable Care Act, left hundreds of thousands of more children uninsured, and rolled back health care discrimination protections for LGBTQ people and women patients.
He has denied overtime pay to millions of workers, refused to forgive loans for defrauded students, proposed new rules threatening access to Social Security programs, and kicked hundreds of thousands of Americans off of SNAP.
He rolled back major environmental regulations in favor of the oil and gas industry and withdrew from the Paris Climate Accord.
He’s spending billions to pay for his unnecessary border wall, closed our doors to asylum seekers, and tried to restart the disastrous family separation policy.
He broke his promise to enact gun safety reforms and instead sided with the NRA over the American people.
He’s made us less safe with his reckless foreign policy.
And yes, he abused his powers and betrayed our Constitution.
Time and again, Representative Katko has refused to hold Donald Trump accountable for the damage he has done to our country and our democracy. He’s even endorsed Trump’s re-election campaign.
It’s time for Trump-enabler John Katko to go.
We need leaders in Washington who will do all they can to repair our democracy and return our government to the hands of the people where it belongs. That’s why I’m running for Congress and why I need you to stand with me now.
