As we do each year, we are unveiling our latest annual Index ([link removed]) on World Press Freedom Day. The 2023 Index sheds light on major and often radical changes linked to political, social and technological upheavals.

With an increase in hostile policies towards journalists in many countries, new disinformation tools produced by artificial intelligence, and propaganda wars against a backdrop of major international tensions, reliable information and those who provide it are exposed to more threats than ever before. In 2023, the environment for journalism is "bad" in seven out of ten countries.

This is why we constantly work to defend journalists, combat press freedom violations and fight for everyone’s right to access reliable and verified news and information.

To be able to keep assisting and protecting all media professionals who risk their lives to do their job, we need your help.
