EGLE seeks feedback on Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Program

The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), ?and Office of Future Mobility and Electrification (OFME), are considering submitting an application for the U.S. Department of Transportation?s Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant (CFI) Program [ [link removed] ]. While multiple types of fueling infrastructure are eligible, the State has a specific interest in exploring opportunities for electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure for this round. There are two categories under the CFI Program that can be broadly summarized as follows:

"*The Corridor Program:* "Contributes toward the build-out of direct current (DC) fast chargers along designated alternative fuel corridors, to expand or fill gaps in access to publicly accessible EV charging infrastructure (very similar to the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Formula Program [ [link removed] ]).

*"The Community Program:" *Contributes toward the build-out of Level 2 and/or DC fast chargers along any public road, to expand or fill gaps in access to publicly accessible EV charging infrastructure.

States, regional planning organizations, local governments, tribes, and public transportation authorities are eligible to directly apply to the CFI Program. If funding is secured by one of these eligible entities, they can create a "pass-through" program where funds can be further distributed. At that stage, most public or private entities with publicly accessible project proposals may then be eligible to apply as sub-recipients (depending on the criteria of the given pass-through program).?

*If your organization has interest in installing charging stations
that would be eligible under the CFI Program, we want to hear about it. *

We are hoping to learn more about what organizations are applying to the CFI Program and what organizations have project plans/ideas but will not/cannot apply to the CFI Program. This information will be used to inform the State of Michigan's approach to this funding opportunity.?

Please fill out the Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Program Intake Form [ [link removed] ] to tell us about your EV charging projects and how the State can provide support through the CFI Program.??*Please complete this form by 5 PM EST on Monday, May 8, 2023.?**?*
