You can care for Born Free’s rescued leopards AND protect those in the wild! |

Happy International Leopard Day! |
Hi John, Today is International Leopard Day, and you can join the celebration of these fantastic felines. Born Free is devoted to leopard care and conservation, and you can get involved when you adopt today.
|
- Leopards are solitary big cats, who are highly intelligent and agile
- Their dark spots or ‘rosettes’ provide perfect camouflage
- Rare melanistic leopards have ebony spots on dark fur – these leopards are often known as black panthers
- Leopards are astoundingly strong and also superb at climbing, so…
- …even heavy prey is carried into trees, to avoid lions or hyenas trying to steal their dinner!
- Wild leopards occupy large territories, marked with claw marks and urine
- Leopards make a wide range of sounds from grrrrrowls, to a sawing roar or rasping yowl

In this exclusive footage of black leopard Mowgli, who was rescued from a zoo by Born Free, you can see him caught on camera marking his territory at our sanctuary in South Africa – just as he would in the wild. |
Why do leopards need our help? |
Born Free helps leopards in the wild AND in captivity.
Wild leopards are under threat from habitat loss and persecution – hungry leopards can clash with people when they try to prey on livestock.
Meanwhile, thousands of leopards are kept in zoos and circuses, repetitively pacing back and forth, denied the freedom their wild souls crave.
YOU can help keep leopards safe today:
|
Adopt today to help fight captive exploitation and give our Leopard Family lifetime care at our South African sanctuary – including Mowgli, rescued from a zoo and Sami, found as an orphaned cub.
Your support will also help Born Free find humane solutions to conflict between leopards and people, so they can coexist in peace. |
