Dear Free Software Supporter,

[We][0] are pleased to announce the list of candidates who have
proceeded to the next step in the [FSF's process to finding new board
members][1]. Nominees confirmed their interest by filling out a
questionnaire that helps introduce themselves and their backgrounds to
the FSF voting members. The FSF voting members thank everyone who
[nominated a candidate][2] and the nominees who responded to the
questionnaire.

The voting members have done a preliminary review of these candidates.
Next, we need to learn more about them, by inviting the FSF associate
members to have discussions about and with them.

The voting members are currently deliberating which of these candidates
will be the first to proceed into the nominee discussion forum. We will
publish their decision in a subsequent announcement.

In the discussion process, FSF associate members will ascertain the
candidates' commitment to the [fundamental requirements][3] of the FSF
mission, identify valuable attributes listed in the [board matrix][3],
gauge whether the candidates will help the board fulfill its [overall
role][4] in the Foundation, and whether they will fulfill a board
member's [individual duties][5] in accordance with the [board code of
ethics][6].

The voting members aim to proceed with deliberate speed in adding new
board members while also completing in-depth discussions and reviews
of the candidates. As such, we may not hold discussions of every
candidate in this iteration of the FSF board nomination and review
process. We could consider them again later in a subsequent process.

If you have questions about the process, please email
<[email protected]>.

In freedom,
Free Software Foundation Board of Directors
