Hi John. Are you tired? We know we are. Over this past weekend, our nation saw 12 counts of gun violence, with one being right here in Seattle.

Two individuals were fatally shot and a third was critically wounded at Cal Anderson Park in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood late Saturday night. At the very start of April, our community lost a local hero, Elijah Lewis, after he and his 9-year-old nephew were shot in Capitol Hill.

We know how exhausting this work can be, John. But we need you now more than ever. The Alliance for Gun Responsibility Foundation works tirelessly to educate on the dangers of gun ownership, broadcast safe storage measures, and ensure that tragedies like this can become less and less frequent.

This legislative session was one of our most successful since our founding. With 8 different gun violence prevention and community safety measures being passed in both the House and Senate. These victories are vital in ensuring that all Washingtonians be free from the scourge of gun violence, but we cannot let up now.

In 2023 alone, we’ve already seen 184 mass shootings. There have only been 122 days so far this year. That’s more than 1 mass shooting per day, John. In the nation that claims to be the best, we are failing our people.
