John,
Yesterday, we celebrated May Day, but today our fight for workers continues. That's why I'm reaching out to you about my friend State Rep. Sara Innamorato.
Sara and I both defeated incumbents in 2018 to be elected to the State House. With her support, I was elected Pennsylvania's first Black Congresswoman last November. Now, she's running to be Allegheny County's first woman Executive.
Sara has my full support, so ahead of her May 16th primary election, I'm asking: Will you split a donation between Sara and me to help power our fight for Western Pennsylvania workers?
Sara and I have been working to tackle corporate greed in Western Pennsylvania at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). Together, we released a report with the American Economic Liberties Project that showed how UPMC's monopoly over our healthcare system is harming both hospital workers and patients in our area.
Currently, UPMC controls the healthcare system in Western Pennsylvania operating 40 hospitals. The effect? 90% of Pittsburgh hospital workers reported that their units don't have the staff to keep up with their workload — pushing workers to their limits and endangering patients.
That's not all. A recent report found UPMC to be the number one least charitable nonprofit hospital in the United States — bringing in billions without paying their fair share in taxes.
Sara and I will always side with workers, but that means going up against corporations and their deep-pocketed lobbyists. If you're ready to elect a pro-worker, pro-union Allegheny County Executive, will you split a donation between Sara and me now to help power our work to take on union-busting corporations and protect workers?
Thank you,
Summer
