Our coalition of climate champions is ready to back this all the way to the President’s desk.
John,
A multi-system approach to reform our permitting practices is gearing up for a formal introduction in the House — and our coalition of climate champions is working to get it all the way to the President’s desk.
Last week, the Co-Chairs of SEEC’s Clean Energy Deployment Task Force, Reps. Sean Casten and Mike Levin, released a discussion draft of their Clean Electricity and Transmission Acceleration (CETA) Act to solicit feedback and gauge early support for their bill ahead of its formal introduction — and it’s already drawing in widespread support:
“...The Clean Electricity and Transmission Acceleration Act would remove existing barriers that inhibit much-needed investment in the grid. I urge Congress to enact this legislation as soon as possible.”
– Richard Glick, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Chair (2021-2023), Commissioner (2017-2021)
This permitting reform package would maximize the impact of the Inflation Reduction Act, clean up our air, eliminate the red tape that stagnates the development of new clean energy projects, and increase the amount of community engagement in the permitting process. And if we’re going to meet our clean energy goals by 2030, this is a must-pass proposal, John.
We’ll keep you updated, John. Thanks for fighting with us.
