May is here and we have plenty of resources to share with you! In this month?s newsletter, we?ll have activities highlighting Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month, Small Business Week, Teacher Appreciation Week, and Mother?s Day. Learn more about the AANHPI population in the United States, moms and their children, and other fun real-life data points.

Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month Fun Facts [ [link removed] ]

May is Asian American,?Native Hawaiian?and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month. Did you know that Asians make up approximately 7.2% of the U.S. population? Our newly updated Fun Facts [ [link removed] ] shows students interesting facts on the AANHPI population in the United States, including businesses, occupations, educational attainment and more. Use the accompanying teaching guide to further the conversation and get students thinking about what they?ve learned.

In addition, we have a Kahoot! game [ [link removed] ] to get students in the competitive spirit. Challenge them to see who can get number 1 on the podium.

Small businesses contribute a great amount to American society. Spark your students? inner business owner and have them learn to think like an entrepreneur with our activity, Adopting an Entrepreneurial Mindset ? Using Census Data for Business [ [link removed] ]. This high school activity has students use our Census Business Builder tool to gather and analyze information entrepreneurs may consider when opening a business.

May 14 is Mother?s Day. Did you know that the first Mother?s Day was organized in 1908?

To commemorate the occasion, share our Mother?s Day Fun Facts [ [link removed] ] with students and give them inspiration for gift ideas while learning interesting facts about mothers in the United States. The teaching guide gives ideas and activities to use with elementary, middle, and high school students, such as having them write a poem or create a card.
