[link removed] [[link removed]] John,
I wanted to reach out personally to say a big thank you to everyone who donated to CREW in the past few weeks. Your support means the world to all of us at CREW, and we couldn’t do this work without you.
Because of your support, we’re moving the needle forward in our fight for accountability, transparency, and ethics reform.
April was a busy month for us at CREW. *
ProPublica
broke
the
news
about
Supreme
Court
Justice
Thomas’s
undisclosed
luxury
trips
and
tight
relationship
with
Harlan
Crow
in
a
groundbreaking
news
story
featuring
commentary
and
analysis
from
CREW’s
Chief
Ethics
Counsel
Virginia
Canter.

When
the
news
broke
that
Clarence
Thomas
also
failed
to
disclose
his
sale
of
property
to
Crow,
we
filed
a
civil
and
criminal
complaint
to
the
Department
of
Justice
and
Chief
Justice
John
Roberts
urging
investigations.

I
was
on
MSNBC
and
CNN
to
explain
the
weight
of
Thomas’s
violations
and
what
the
revelations
could
mean
–
and
Virginia
Canter
also
joined
NPR’s
Morning
Edition
to
discuss
the
need
for
higher
ethical
standards
for
Supreme

justices.

And
just
today,
CREW
submitted
testimony

John, we have no doubt that May will be busy too, because this is just the beginning of this fight.
Often it's the coverup, not the original conduct, that leads to accountability. That's one of the lessons of Watergate, and it's one that Justice Thomas appears not to have learned. [[link removed]]
Clarence Thomas’s decades of deception will have a far deeper impact on our democracy. What else might he be hiding? And are other justices concealing real estate deals or similar relationships with wealthy and powerful activists?
These are questions CREW will fight to find answers to. We’ll continue to push for an investigation into Clarence Thomas’s unethical and possibly illegal violations. We’ll fight to restore integrity to the Supreme Court by continuing to push for judicial ethics reform.
We’ll fight to restore confidence in our judicial system and the legitimacy of the rule of law. There’s work to be done. And you can count on our team at CREW to continue the job.
We couldn’t do any of it without supporters like you. Thank you, again, for your support this week, and every week,
Noah Bookbinder
President
