Dear
John,
Today is National Teacher Appreciation Day.
If you ask me, one day is not enough.
After all, teachers do so much more than
teach. They work tirelessly to make every student feel safe, secure
and of course well-fed - often playing a key role in connecting
kids with the food they need to succeed in school.
That makes teachers superheroes.
And helping kids get meals by supporting No
Kid Hungry is pretty heroic, too!

Here's how one teacher expressed her
commitment to the kids in her class:
"I let my students know that I'm not just their
teacher. I'm a role model. I'm a mother figure. I'm
a friend. I want them to know that I can assist them through the hard
times and through the challenges and the difficulties that they may be
facing."
Last week, we celebrated the diverse
community of superheroes who make it possible for millions of children
to get the food they need - and teachers are some of the most
important in the 'league of hunger-fighting superheroes.'
They deserve our deepest gratitude.

John, please join
me in raising a virtual glass to the remarkable people who give so
much to feed kids' minds, hearts and bellies!
Sincerely,
Anne Bell-Fysh
