I want you to be the first to know that I'm exploring a run to be the next Governor of Washington State.
I never hesitate to take on the biggest challenges, and I never forget that I’m fighting for the people.
What type of Governor will I be? The same type of public servant that I am as Attorney General – the kind who never gives up and works for the people.
Looking for an example? My team and I recently accomplished the following in a single 24-hour period:
That’s the type of energy and success I plan to bring to this race, and the office of Governor.
This race will be a challenge. In the last two gubernatorial elections without an incumbent, the average margin of victory was just 1.5%. The Republican Governors Association spent more than $11 million the last time there was an open seat, and we expect they’ll spend even more in this race.
But I have a track record of winning tough campaigns. We need to build the same grassroots coalition we always have – together. Unlike most politicians, I don’t accept donations from large corporations, so this grassroots movement is going to be fueled by thousands of donors like you.
Over the next few weeks, I will be visiting all four corners of Washington State, listening to Washingtonians, and assessing if I have the support necessary to successfully run for this important office.
As Attorney General, I am proud of my record standing up for Washingtonians. As Governor, I will continue taking on the big fights – and delivering for our economy, environment, and Washingtonians.
I believe that everyone must have the freedom to make their own health care decisions, to breathe clean air and drink clean water, to be free from discrimination, and to make a living wage in a safe work environment. I look forward to building a people-powered campaign driven by the issues that matter most.
