Today is Teacher Appreciation Day.

Roy Cooper for North Carolina

Hi John,

My mother was a North Carolina public school teacher. I went through the public school system myself and we sent our three daughters to public schools here in NC. I know firsthand that our state can offer excellent education for every student.

But that’s only possible when public schools and their teachers have the resources they need to succeed.

Today, on Teacher Appreciation Day, I’m asking you to join in my call to keep public dollars in public schools. Sign on here to urge the GOP to ensure public schools are fully funded >>>

John, Republican legislators in Raleigh are determined to strip critical funds from our public school system — and it’s just not right.

Right now, a bill is working its way through the General Assembly to take tax dollars away from public schools in favor of unaccountable and discriminatory private schools. In effect, we’ll be taking funds out of the hands of kids who need them and subsidizing wealthy families who want to send their children to private schools.

Far right legislators are using their power to essentially resegregate schools and reshape what and how our public schools educators teach in an effort to instill their own extremist worldview into North Carolina’s kids.

Our students and teachers deserve so much better.

I oppose these dangerous bills and will continue working to give our public school teachers and students the resources they deserve. Join me by signing my petition now >>>

Thank you,

Roy Cooper
