Teacher Appreciation Week!

Teacher Appreciation Week begins on Sunday, May 7, and we want to recognize all the great civic educators out there for everything you do! That includes naming this year's recipient of our National Civics Teacher of the Year award! We are accepting nominations through Friday, June 30. All semi-finalists will be selected on Aug. 15, 2023, and will receive a $1,000 prize.

The Bill of Rights Institute National Civics Teacher of the Year award will be announced during our Constitution Day Live program on Sept. 17, 2023. That individual will receive a $5,000 prize. Do you know a civics teacher who should be recognized? Submit your nomination now!

Don't Forget About Our MyImpact Challenge!

The deadline to apply for our MyImpact Challenge is almost here! Our contest encourages high school students to develop constitutionally-principled civic engagement projects. The deadline to apply is 11:59 p.m. PT on Monday, May 21.

Take a look at what our 2022 MyImpact Challenge winner put together to land the top prize. Students can receive up to $10,000 in prizes and total prizes of up to $40,000 are available to students and teachers. So what are you waiting for? Make sure your students sign up now!

Dear John,

The end of the school year is almost here, which means it’s time to tie up some loose ends and look forward to the new school year that is just a couple of months away. But it is also an opportunity for you to take advantage of some exciting opportunities from the Bill of Rights Institute!

We are still looking for members to join BRI’s National Teacher Council. Applications are being accepted through Monday, May 15, and members will serve a term of one year. Don’t forget to complete our Civic Education Survey as well, so we can better serve you with the content and resources you need. The first 300 people who respond to the survey will also be eligible to win two $500 gift cards and sticker packs!

Also, be on the lookout for our latest curriculum, Slavery and the Founding. These six lessons explore the contradiction between the ideals of the Declaration of Independence and the injustice of slavery.
