Friends -
This morning, Politico reported that the Vice Chair of the New York Stock Exchange is considering a run for the Senate seat in Michigan. His name is John Tuttle, and he’s originally from Michigan.
In that article, the Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee called him a “strong potential recruit.” It also talked about Tuttle's ties to Speaker Kevin McCarthy, highlighting that he hosted an event at the stock exchange with McCarthy in April.
But here is the thing about self-funding candidates with deep ties to Wall Street: They may be able to buy their way onto the ballot, but they can’t buy the trust and support of voters.
And at the end of the day, Michiganders are looking for candidates who have an understanding of the issues that affect them. Candidates who show up, listen, and then show up again and again and again.
That is the kind of campaign Elissa has always run, and that hasn’t changed now that she’s running for U.S. Senate. It’s how she’s been able to succeed in areas that voted for the Republican candidate in the last three presidential elections.
It’s also why she has vowed to never accept a cent from corporate PACs in any of her campaigns: because she never wants her constituents to question whose interests she’s representing.
But given this news, the threat of a well-funded opponent with limitless ties to deep-pocketed donors, we have an important question for you today:
