More than a week after Fox News settled a defamation lawsuit by Dominion Voting Systems for $787.5 million the network gave the boot to one of its most prolific commentators, Tucker Carlson.
It's about time.
While we still don't know the exact reason Tucker was let go — we do know one thing: Fox didn't let him go because of his racist, inflammatory and white supremacist rhetoric or for his uneven relationship with the truth.
As we now know, through the discovery phase of the Dominion lawsuit, Carlson knew the Big Lie wasn't true, yet knowingly peddled it anyways. He even tried to get a coworker fired for accurately fact-checking disgraced former President Trump.
While we can celebrate and rejoice in Tucker's departuree, we know that the right-wing media ecosphere will find another talking head to fill in and continue to amplify and broadcast harmful disinformation that has more recently targeted the Latino community with impunity.
