this weekend we held the first Spanish-language-only town halls in Massachusetts Senate history.
We didn't do this for the press, or the tweets, or the pundits. We did this because I made a promise to Massachusetts voters on day one: I will show up.
No matter the color of your skin, god of your prayers, hand that you hold, or language that you speak — on this campaign, you count.
Latinx voters across our Commonwealth – and country – have made immense contributions to every corner of American life. So they should be heard. In their community. In their language. Direct, honest, and unfiltered.
These were the first two Spanish-only town halls – but they will not be the last. We'll keep showing up. Not just when the cameras are there. Not just for votes. But I will show up over and over (until folks are sick of me) because it matters.
The people of Massachusetts deserve a Senator who is going to be an active member of our lives. A Senator they know and recognize. A Senator who will fight like hell for us in Washington, and at the end of the week come home, tell you all about it, and listen to your feedback.
It would be the honor of my life to be that Senator. To win this race. And I'm grateful for your support as we try to achieve that, together.
- Joe
