Team, today is May Day, otherwise known as International
Workers' Day — a day to honor the inherent dignity of labor and to advocate for
the rights of workers across the world.
It is an exciting time for the workers’ rights movement in the United States.
Here at NILC, we are fighting alongside a broad movement of labor leaders and
immigrants’ rights activists to improve working conditions for all — regardless
of where we’re from or where we were born. And we are inviting you to join that movement too.
Today, we are sharing our call to Congress to pass the Protect Our Workers from Exploitation and Retaliation (POWER) Act . This legislation would defend the rights of immigrant workers and empower
them to safely fight back against abusive working conditions and employers.
All workers, regardless of their immigration status, deserve safe working
conditions and the ability to speak up when their rights are violated. When more
people can safely report and hold abusive employers accountable, workplaces
improve for everyone.
Team, along with everyone on this incredible team, we
need your help to make sure Congress heeds our urgent call to pass this bill.
Will you take meaningful action this May Day to support immigrant workers?
Please join us in urging Congress to pass the POWER Act >>>
