JANUARY STATEWIDE DAY OF ACTION
Thank you for making it a success!
#TeamCornyn – together with RPT’s Voter Engagement Project and Texans for Greg
Abbott – had its biggest turnout yet during the January Statewide Day of
Action. With the Senate Firewall and redistricting on the line, hundreds of
volunteers came out ready to #KEEPTEXASRED. More than 5,000 doors were knocked
on and several elected officials, Republican Women, precinct chairs and more
were on-hand for trainings.

GARY GATES KNOCKS ON 18,000+ DOORS, TROUNCES DEMOCRATS
National Democrats “turned an expected loss into an embarrassing loss — and a
national spectacle,” says the CEO of the Texas Tribune.
Gary Gates, who fended off a tsunami of out-of-state money and Democrat “star
power,” won the suburban Fort Bend House seat by 16 points to become Texas’
newest Republican state House member. Republicans across the state mobilized to
help get out the word on Gates before the Jan. 28 special election. Gates
himself knocked on more than 18,000 doors, in addition to the 89,100 his
campaign knocked on. His campaign and volunteers also put in 520 manhours
making 25,965 phone calls. This united front flipped the script on Democrats
who proclaimed this race to be a bellwether for things to come in 2020.
Gary Gates proved that candidates’ hard work and block walking will be a
deciding factor in 2020.
DALLAS COUNTY
We don’t need to tell anyone in Dallas that Representative Angie Chen Button
(HD 112) is a force to be reckoned with. She is a trusted friend and valuable
ally. Together with Rep. Button, #TeamCornyn’s Regional Director Mason Morgan
is connecting with a local delegation of Vietnamese activists to garner their
partnership and support. #TeamCornyn is also working closely with Will Douglas,
candidate for state HD 113, to ensure targeted and coordinated outreach efforts.
