House Bill 302 will be considered in the House Judiciary Committee. This measure prohibits the possession of a firearm on private school property. Maryland Wear and Carry permit holders are not exempt from this prohibition. HB 302 is a severe attack on property rights, as it would strip the rights of a property owner to determine how to govern firearms and provide security to students and faculty.

Senate Bill 208 will be considered by the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee. Senate companion to House Bill 4, SB 208 would ban many private sales and transfers of rifles or shotguns without first paying fees and obtaining government permission. Firearm sales between friends, neighbors, or fellow hunters would not be exempted. This proposal will have no impact on crime and is completely unenforceable.
