Dear John,
Here in Maine, the sap flow is beginning to taper; the wildflowers are bursting through the soil, welcoming the songbirds who have returned to Vacationland. May is a month of rebirth, new beginnings, and the perfect time to listen to a Maine classic, Rick Charette's I Love Mud.
So, I hope you'll join us in jumping in a puddle or two and attending one or both of our May Lunch & Learns!
We have an excellent line-up for you – together, we will learn about Migrant Justice's Milk with Dignity program, which advocates for humane conditions throughout the dairy supply chain; AND learn about the tremendous economic, social, and environmental benefits that offshore wind would bring to Maine.
We look forward to seeing you this month!

Friday, May 12, 12-1 PM: Milk with Dignity
Immigrant dairy workers have spent the entire month of April on the road connecting with supporters and taking action for Milk with Dignity! Farmworker organization Migrant Justice is calling on grocery chain Hannaford Supermarkets to source its store-brand milk from farms where workers' human rights are independently monitored and protected and the long-term interests of farm owners are supported.
Join us to learn more about the rampant abuses workers face on dairy farms and the powerful organizing they are doing to improve conditions and protect their rights. During this Lunch & Learn, you will hear directly from farmworkers, learn about the Milk with Dignity Program, take collective action, and gain the tools you need to join this inspiring struggle for human rights.

Friday, May 19, 12-1 PM: Jumpstarting the Maine Offshore Wind Industry with Bold Legislation
Maine environmental and labor groups are working together on two new pieces of legislation to boost the development of responsibly developed floating offshore wind in the Gulf of Maine.
These bills hold equity and environmental protection at their cores, with provisions requiring environmental mitigation, ensuring strong labor protections, and fostering inclusive benefits for Maine’s most vulnerable communities.
Join us for a deep dive into these bills with Eliza Donoghue, Director of Advocacy and Staff Attorney at Maine Audubon; Francis Eanes, Executive Director of Maine Labor Climate Council; Jack Shapiro, Climate and Clean Energy Director at Natural Resources Council of Maine; Amy Eshoo of Maine Climate Action Now, and Kelt Wilska, Energy Justice Manager at Maine Conservation Voters to learn more!
