Protect Title IX.

Dear John,

A couple of weeks ago, the Trump administration published a slew of dangerous proposed rules that would make it easier for institutions that get federal funding to discriminate against students based on sex.

The Department of Education’s proposal to massively expand religious exemptions under Title IX will put students at risk.

The Department of Education is trying to expand the limited carve-out for religious schools that Title IX has always provided and take away protections for many students who face discrimination and harassment.

Imagine being under constant threat of expulsion, just for being a woman, or being LGBTQ, or doing something as simple as taking birth control. Imagine investing your money and energy in school, only to be dismissed from school solely based on who you are. That’s already a reality for many people who go to religious schools — and now the Department of Education is trying to let even more schools discriminate against students and teachers based on sex.

Your voice matters! Help us stop the administration from putting students in harm.

Submit comments opposing the Department of Education’s proposed rules until before the February 18 deadline!

TAKE ACTION

Instead of addressing the urgent problem of sex discrimination in schools, the Department of Education is trying to make it easier for more schools to claim a religious right to discriminate.

This is the latest in the Trump administration’s systematic attack on Title IX and its attempt to create sweeping, harmful, and illegal exceptions to nondiscrimination laws.

It’s yet another example of the Department of Education shirking its responsibility to enforce the law and protect students. Help fight back by submitting your comment to the administration before the deadline!

Title IX already allows some exceptions for religious schools, but the proposed rule makes those exceptions even more sweeping. The Department of Education (ED) is trying to give schools a blank check to discriminate — at the expense of women and girls, LGBTQ students, pregnant or parenting students, and students who make decisions about their reproductive health. We can’t let that happen. Submit your comment today!

Sincerely,

Ma’ayan Anafi
