I’ve looked up to my dad my whole life, John.
He’s always had a really big heart.
And while you might think of him as Congressman, Representative, or just Adam — to me, he’s dad. And I’m his daughter Lexi! His smartest, funniest, most fashionable... and only daughter.
After all these years, he hasn’t changed.
Not after he was elected to Congress.
Not after managing Trump’s impeachment and facing the right wing’s attacks.
Not now that he’s running for Senate — he’s just having the same conversations about our democracy, our ideals and our values that we’ve had around the dinner table for the last 20 years.
My dad is the same incredibly earnest, dad-joke telling guy who loves his family and his country. He's the kind of dad who held me up to the microphone to speak at a 4th of July parade when I was just a toddler begging him to "tell them about me!" (I still do that).
He's also the guy who kept a relaxed enough atmosphere in a congressional campaign office that a kid like me could play with the telephones. A lot.
He's a really great dad! (And now that he’s running a statewide campaign in California, I am sure he is STRESSING, even though he would never show it.)
Running for office is a big task. But it's always been clear to me why my dad does it. Growing up, he would tell us stories about the people he'd met from his district and their concerns about their jobs, their families, and all of the things that they wanted to be different in our country — that mattered most to them.
My first thought hearing those stories as a kid was always that it must be so hard to listen to those stories every day and have people expect so much from you as just one person. But my dad would always tell us that it was the best part of the job. The chance to hear people's struggles and honest concerns and work to fix them - and make their lives better.
That's what truly and genuinely motivates him at his core — and that’s what I know he will bring to the Senate, if we can elect him there. The humanity and the unrelenting passion to change people's lives for the better, and make our country and our world a better place to live in.
So before my dad’s fundraising deadline at midnight tonight, I would really appreciate it if you could make a contribution (and let him get back to spending some time with my mom, Eve). What do you say, John? Can you chip in $10 to my dad’s campaign before midnight?

Thanks for hearing me out. I know you don’t usually get emails like this, but his campaign team said I could write what I wanted! And share some corny anecdotes about my dad with you. Here’s another adorable baby picture of me before you go:
