John,
On Wednesday in a 217-215 vote, the Republican-controlled House narrowly passed a debt ceiling bill that:
-
Blocks student loan forgiveness
-
Makes drastic cuts to food stamps and Medicaid
-
Makes it harder for seniors to get Social Security
-
Guts veteran benefits
-
Would throw nearly 800,000 Americans out of work
-
All while letting the wealthy cheat on their taxes.1
This is a MAGA Republican wish list. And House Republicans are threatening to default on our country’s debts and cause an economic crisis unless they get their way.
It doesn’t have to be this way. In 2024, we’ve identified key congressional districts in New York and California that went for Biden in 2020 where Republicans currently serve. And with your help, we can hold these Republicans accountable and begin the work now to flip these districts and put an end to MAGA hostage-taking.
We need to raise $25,000 in the month of April from emails like this one to stay on track for this cycle — and right now we’re only about 93 donations away from reaching that goal. Will you contribute $10 before our end-of-month deadline tonight to make sure we have the resources to flip the House in 2024?

Republican policies like slashing food stamps and letting the wealthy cheat on their taxes are deeply unpopular with the American public. The only way they can even try and pass such a deeply unpopular agenda is to hold the economy hostage and threaten to default on our national debt.
With the Treasury set to default on our debts as early as June,2 this reckless showmanship by the MAGA Republicans in the House could result in massive job loss and steer our economy towards a recession.
We need to make sure Republicans pay a political price for their irresponsibility. Will you contribute $10 before the end of the month to help us reach our goal? Your contribution will help us work to hold Republicans accountable and take back the House in 2024.
In solidarity,
Team WFP
