Dear friends,

Spring has sprung, and this season has been a busy one for us as we met with legislators around the country, invested in school safety research, and more. Our work is only possible through the donations of supporters like you – please consider making a donation to protect America’s children and fund this school safety movement.

During this past spring break season, we worked to ensure that our online community had the resources they needed to keep kids safe. As students were on spring break and spending more time at home, issues such as safe firearm storage and suicide prevention are more important than ever to raise awareness about. Read about these guides and more on our Resources page.

On March 11, Stand with Parkland families met with former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords in the Gina Montalto Wing of the Parkland Library to discuss new school safety legislation being debated in the Florida Legislature.

“Parents like Anthony Montalto, whose daughter Gina Montalto was killed in the shooting, say that the efforts made for school safety are now being threatened because of the proposed permitless carry bill. ‘I feel that this current bill will retract some of that and we will have more families joining this terrible club that my wife, myself and the other families here today find ourselves in,’ he said."

On March 27, news of another deadly school-shooting rocked our country. At The Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, six individuals — three children and three adults — were violently murdered.

In wake of this tragedy, we want to encourage our supporters to check in with their local schools about what safety procedures they have in place to protect students from acts of mass violence. For guidance on how to start this conversation, check out our “Five Questions” guide on this topic.

As the most effective advocacy group to arise out of the Parkland tragedy, Stand with Parkland’s supporters have a lot to be proud of. Help spread awareness of our mission while supporting our work by purchasing a Stand with Parkland shirt or sweatshirt all proceeds go directly to supporting our school safety mission.

We’re seeing progress on the local, state, and federal levels — but there is still so much work to be done, friends. Please consider a donation to support our work to make your voice heard — every dollar has a real impact on school safety in our country.
