I’m the daughter of an immigrant. I'm a single mother of two who survived on Medicaid and earned my college degree online while working a full-time job.
Here's the truth: people like me don't often wind up in elected office.
Many folks throughout Commonwealth know the challenges I have faced — because they too have lived them. I'm running for State Senate because it's important to have voices like ours at the policy-making table.
We need a state government that looks out for families who are too often unseen. We need a state government focused on creating opportunity, and not rolling back our civil liberties or pitting Virginians against one another because of our race, gender, or sexual orientation.
We need more legislators in Richmond who look like and understand the experiences of the people of Virginia. Because those legislators will be the ones who lead the way in making our Commonwealth more prosperous and equal.
