The fight surrounding the debt ceiling is heating up.

After voting several times during the Trump presidency to raise the debt
ceiling, Republicans are deciding to dig their heels in the sand. Despite
narrowly passing the new debt ceiling proposal, it would come with major
strings attached — reversing some of the progress our movement made last
year by repealing key parts of the Inflation Reduction Act and eliminating
the Biden administration's student loan forgiveness initative.

This is unacceptable. While Republicans have no problem running up the
debt through tax breaks for billionaires and the wealthy, they're showing
us who they are — bought-and-paid-for hacks who will do anything to
maintain their money and power.

For years, Republicans have used the very process they're using now to
threaten to tank the economy for years. And despite taking emergency
measures, the federal government's tap is expected to run dry this summer.
Any default would hurt our economy, bring even higher interest rates,
create a surge of unemployment and would likely cause a recession.

We won't be fooled: When the GOP talks about "fiscal responsibility" this
is nothing more than an attempt to impose their extremist and unpopular
