The USDA has just killed a key study on the bee die-off -- the third such study shut down by the Trump administration. Will you donate to Environment Colorado to help save the bees, and to support all of our work to defend the environment? Donate:

Anonymous,

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced it is suspending its Honey Bee Colonies report, and will no longer be tracking the honeybee population state by state.[1]

This is the third major study on the bee die-off that has been shut down by the Trump administration, denying policy makers the basic science they need to take action and save the bees.

Bees are crucial to the environment, and we're ramping up our No Bees, No Food campaign to alert the public to the dire circumstances of our bee population.

Will you donate to Environment Colorado to help save the bees, and to support all of our work to defend the environment?

Researchers at the USDA say that the Honey Bee Colonies report is invaluable for knowing how colony losses are growing or declining from year to year and which areas are suffering the most losses.[2]

Without that data, scientists can't narrow down what environmental factors -- including bee-killing neonicotinoid pesticides -- may be contributing the most to colony collapse.

Beekeepers lost nearly 41% of their colonies last winter, the highest loss on record, and the life span of honeybees has been cut in half.[3] There's never been a more critical time to help the bees -- but the Trump administration is blocking the bee science that is necessary to save them.

Bees are major pollinators, in nature and America's fields. Just 100 crops produce 90 percent of the world's food, and bees pollinate 71 of them. Environment Colorado is still working to stop offshore drilling and protect our national forests, but right now, we need to ramp up our No Bees, No Food campaign and help save the bees.
