Dear Friend, |
Earth Month 2023 is nearly at an end, and it’s a great time to reflect on what we can all do moving forward to protect species biodiversity. The stakes are high — between one third to one half of all species could be at risk of extinction by 2100 — and the clock is ticking. |
The good news is that most of Earthjustice’s work — and by extension, the actions we send your way — is rooted in defense of biodiversity since this loss is driven by industrial interests that maintain an economic system which sacrifices our people and wildlife for profit. Mining, fossil fuel extraction, overfishing, and logging are all examples of how ecosystems and communities experience biodiversity loss. We must do all we can to address these extractive activities, but we cannot ignore the root causes or else we will be stuck in a constant cycle of addressing the symptoms but never repairing the source of the harm. We can do this together by advocating for biodiversity conservation and protection, supporting Indigenous sovereignty, curtailing industries that profit from destruction, and forging new systems that respect our interdependent relationship with all life on Earth. |
This is a difficult task, but I remain hopeful because of the relentless activism of Earthjustice action-takers. There are countless people, just like you, who know a better world is possible. We can do this together — with your help. |
You can do that today by clicking here to take all the actions below on one page. |
