It was a busy week, but I’m back to keep you in the loop on how I am fighting for our conservative values.
I am extremely disappointed with the Supreme Court’s decision to send the case regarding the abortion pill mifepristone back to an appeals court. This pill can be dangerous. It is widely known to pose a threat to the health and safety of women and girls, and it is our responsibility to ensure their protection from the potential harm of this drug. Thankfully, this is only a temporary reprieve, and I look forward to following this case during the appeals process.
As a strong supporter of Title IX and women’s athletics, I am proud to have helped pass the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. This would prevent biological males from competing in women’s sports, and protect the integrity of athletics and opportunities for women everywhere. Not only do transgender athletes have an unfair advantage in competition, but they also usurp biological women for spots to compete. For me, this is about respect for women. I urge my colleagues in the Senate to stand up for women everywhere by promptly sending this bill to the president’s desk.
After intense negotiations over a debt ceiling deal, including joining my midwestern colleagues in successfully lobbying to protect critical tax incentives for biofuels, our conference came together, did what was right, and moved our plan forward. Republicans are committed to reining in spending and forcing President Biden to come to the table to negotiate a deal. We are the only party to successfully pass a plan that will address reckless spending and ensure America meets its financial obligations. If the president and Democrats in the Senate refuse to negotiate, they are willingly putting the country’s finances in jeopardy for political gain. The ball is now in their court.
