Hey John,
I want to take a moment and reflect on my story with you, but if you’re short on time today and want to support my work building an Arizona for everyone, please consider pitching in before tomorrow’s end-of-month fundraising deadline. [[link removed]]
John, as you can probably guess, this job has its fair share of hardships.
Defending our fundamental rights, negotiating and renegotiating with people I may not always agree with, and doing everything in my power to build an Arizona that works for everyone isn’t always a walk in the park — but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
You see, growing up, my family struggled. Just like many middle-class families, we experienced financial uncertainty. As a young girl in Tempe, my family sometimes relied on support from our local church and food stamps to make ends meet.
I saw firsthand the impact of community support and government assistance programs, and it was through that experience that I developed my deep passion for public service.
From starting out as a church volunteer to working at a homeless shelter in my first post-college job to helping run one of the nation’s largest domestic violence shelters, I found fulfillment in supporting those in need. But, in this work I also witnessed how the needs of our state’s most vulnerable were being neglected and how the failures of past elected officials were negatively affecting the lives of everyday Arizonans.
From seeing folks struggle to pay medical bills, provide for their kids, or be forced to work multiple jobs in order to keep up with bills, I knew something had to change. And it occurred to me: if you can’t change policy, you have to change the people making those policies.
So I decided to run for office, and I haven’t lost an election since.
Now, as Arizona’s 24th Governor, it’s true, I do run into roadblocks — but nothing will stop me from delivering on my promise to right the wrongs of past elected officials and create solutions to the issues affecting our daily lives.
That’s why right now, I’m fighting to protect our reproductive rights, support working families, address our water crisis, and so much more, but I can’t do this work alone. Can you chip in $10 or any amount before tomorrow’s end-of-month fundraising deadline to help me build an Arizona for everyone? [[link removed]]
