Team,
We just published some findings from our latest survey of DACA recipients, and the results speak for themselves. Of the DACA recipients surveyed:
-
90% are employed or currently in school
-
59% got their first credit card, 47% opened a bank account, and 34% started a retirement account
-
Average salaries or annual earnings more than doubled since receiving DACA status
-
Over 50% of respondents bought their first car, and 18% bought their first house
-
Over 40% reported their DACA status allowed them to get their first job, switch to a job they were better suited for, increase their earnings, or get better benefits at work
The DACA program has allowed hundreds of thousands of immigrant youth to work and attend school without the threat of deportation — and the benefits have been immeasurable. But currently, DACA is hanging by a thread with new attacks coming every day.
DACA was always meant to be a temporary band-aid fix, but with so much on the line, now is the time for Congress and President Biden to deliver a permanent solution.
If DACA is shut down, 75% of survey respondents would fear for the physical safety of their families, 63% would be less likely to continue their education, and many would be less likely to attend public gatherings, report crimes, open a bank account, and more.
Losing DACA would be catastrophic for hundreds of millions of immigrants.
So now we’re calling on Congress and President Biden to act NOW to deliver a path to citizenship for all 11 million undocumented folks. Will you donate now to support our fight for permanent protections?
